CleverDeck at home with a relaxing lifestyle

Have you ever heard of Thirroul? It’s a northern seaside suburb of Wollongong in NSW whose name is said to be aboriginal for “Valley of the Cabbage Tree Palms”.

Kaylene Friess and her family have a beautiful modern home there and when the time came to install the deck, they had two main objectives.

The first was purely practical.

Being so close to the sea, they knew that timber decking would need regular maintenance, probably every year, and Kaylene’s husband reckons he has better things to do with his time. Not to mention the ongoing cost of staining and restaining a timber deck year after year – just pop your head into any hardware or paint store these days, take a look at the price tags and you’ll quickly see what I mean. So, in a nutshell, Kaylene’s hubby reckons he’s well in front with CleverDeck.

The other main objective was aesthetic.

The Friess home is a sandy colour, in keeping with their beautiful coastal surroundings, with a render-like finish. The colour of the deck had to complement the house, and Kaylene felt the range of timber stains just didn’t look as modern as the CleverDeck range.

They had some samples sent out and decided slate grey would match up with the house perfectly, and when it all went down in January they couldn’t have been happier. In fact, Kaylene loved it so much she wasn’t sure she wanted to let the dogs on it!

Their decking has really added to the relaxed lifestyle that is part and parcel of a place like Thirroul.

And with no upkeep to speak of, they plan to keep it that way.

Remember, our CleverDeck product is great value, a cinch to install, environmentally sustainable and pretty much a maintenance-free decking alternative. It’s a super product well worth considering for anyone living near the seaside like the Friess family.
